We Need Info

If you are a resident of the area, your participation is critical. While we have lots of research, we need information from the community about green sites in the area. These could be natural sites, cultural sites, economic development sites, buildings of importance, renewable energy sites, historical sites, information areas, recreation and transportation places.

Examples are places where people hike, cycle, run their dog or express their spirituality Other examples are wetlands, grasslands, open space, geographic features, musical areas, community centres and health shops.

The other section of important sites for the map are areas of degradation, such as sources of chemical, water and air pollution as well as dumping sites. We would like to hear of any area that you think would be of interest to the community. For a full list of sites please look at the website links.

Please feel free to comment on areas that you believe would fit the above description. If you would like to submit a site please email us with your suggestion. If you do have a site that you think would be good, please leave some contact details so that we can get additional info and credit you on the map.

Knowledge

We need people with knowledge for our map. Whether you are an urban planner, a designer, tour guide, genealogist, teacher, geographer, environmentalist, social entrepreneur, normal entrepreneur, sociologist, scientist, academic, NGO, poet, printer, government official, religious leader, historian, marketer, public relations officer, musician, local councilor, president of a big corporation or small country or visa versa, almost anyone.

If you are a school kid or teacher you may want to contact us so you can make your own youth map in your area. We could also come give a talk to your school.

Materials

Making a map requires huge amounts of materials. We need paper, printing materials, promoting materials and of course money.

If you can help us to create the Egoli greenmap please contact us.

Campaign awareness

If you are not in the above categories, but want to help regardless, please send us your details. Once the map is finished we going to be using it as an awareness tool to highlight environmetnal issues in our area and in Joburg in general. Whoever you are you will be able to participate. Of course you will also want to purchase your very own Egoli Greenmap.

Further Suggestions

Any insight would be of great help. Whether you love our project or hate it. Regardless if you think need to ten more maps or you think were a bunch of bunny huggers minus the rabbits. Just one request, whatever you say, keep clean and preferably green.
